TableView expects RM3mil turnover

ADVERTISING company TableView (M) Sdn Bhd expects to achieve turnover of RM2mil to RM 3mil for the financial year ending Sept 30, 2002, through its innovative TableTalk advertising.

Its chief executive officer Kelvin Hong told a press conference in Petaling Jaya on Thursday that he stumbled onto the new concept of advertising while drinking tea and watching a TV commercial at a mamak store with a friend.

"I felt advertisements could have a better impact if they were placed on the tables of viewers while they had their tea at the stalls", he said.

Hong told reporters this after the smart partnership signing ceremony with Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Operators Association (Presma).

He said that surveys conducted prior to the launch of TableTalk showed that consumers were more likely to be influenced by advertisements placed right in front of them, especially if the products were available at the food outlet.

“The key advantage and strength of TableTalk advertising is its ability to solicit immediate response from the consumers,” Hong said.

Under the smart partnership, TableView would gain access to 1,600 Presma members who are restaurant owners in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Baru.

Hong said that TableView started acquiring exclusive rights to manage and sell tabletop advertising in high traffic eateries, including Indian Muslim restaurants, coffee shops and cafes, in the middle of last year.

To date, TableView has signed up over 250 outlets with 8,000 advertising slots.

The company expects its turnover to double in their next financial year once they increased their advertising through Presma members. Some of its current advertisers are established brands such as Panasonic, Intel Pentium and 20th Fox Century.

Besides tabletop advertising, Hong said, the company also acted as creative consultant to clients in developing creative ways to give advertisers more exposure and added value.
